Basic Allowance For Housing (BAH)

Naval Air Station Jacksonville is a military airport that is commonly referred to as “NAS Jax”. The mission of Naval Air Station Jacksonville is to provide facilities for pilot training and be a maintenance depot for total engine disassembly. Other facilities located at NAS Jacksonville include a Naval Hospital, a Navy Family Service Center, and a Fleet Industrial Supply Center. Naval Air Station Jacksonville is located in Duval County, Florida and is the third largest naval installation in the United States. Government family housing is available at NAS Jacksonville by contacting the Housing Referral Office. Pets are allowed in government quarters but must be spayed or neutered. For those looking for off-post housing, NAS Jacksonville has an association with Rental Partnership Program that has a list of available apartment complexes and homes for rent. Applicable BAH rates can be used to pay rent and some of the utilities. Temporary lodging at NAS Jacksonville is provided through the Navy Gateway Inns and Suites and the Heritage Cottages. The Navy Lodge is another option with over 100 units, and reservations can be made by calling 904-772-6000. Rates are very reasonable and apply to all active duty, reservists and their dependents.
The schools for those students residing at NAS Jacksonville are Venetia Elementary, J.E.B. Stuart Middle School, and Robert E. Lee High School. Duval County provides bus transportation for students living on the naval station. Home schooling is another option, and more information is available through the County’s School Board Office. The Child Development Center at NAS Jacksonville offers child care services for children from 6 weeks to 5 years of age. School Age Care is provided at the Youth Activities Center and is available for children up to age 12. Both before and after school transportation is provided, and waiting lists may be in place for children between 6 weeks and 5 years. All programs are certified by the Department of Defense. In-home daycare is also offered for those families residing on NAS Jacksonville.
